Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and community leaders across the state to intensify grassroots engagement and ensure that residents are fully informed about government programmes and development projects being implemented under his administration.

The governor made the appeal on Tuesday in Katsina during the inauguration of 1,080 grassroots mobilisers drawn from the state's 34 local government areas.

The mobilisers were inaugurated under the banner of the newly established “Dikko Mai da Alkhairi da Alkhairi” movement, a support platform designed to strengthen communication between government and communities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the event, Radda described the initiative as an extension of the state's Community Development Programme (CDP), which he said had gained national and international recognition because of its direct impact on local communities.

According to the governor, a recent visit by a World Bank delegation to Katsina highlighted the success of the programme, with the team reportedly expressing interest in the CDP model as a framework that could be considered for adoption in other states.

“This demonstrates the effectiveness of the programme in taking government interventions directly to communities and bridging the gap between government and the people,” the governor said.

Radda stressed that the Community Development Programme was established to serve all residents of the state regardless of political affiliation, noting that government projects and interventions were intended to improve the lives of people across Katsina.

He explained that the newly inaugurated movement emerged from growing appreciation among communities that had benefited from various government initiatives over the past two years.

The governor commended members of the CDP for helping to strengthen communication between the government and residents, adding that their efforts had made it easier for communities to identify and benefit from development programmes.

Radda also used the occasion to rally support for the state's environmental campaign, “Katsina Tree-Plant-One-T Initiative,” which aims to plant about two million trees within a year as part of efforts to tackle environmental degradation and promote sustainability.

He further praised the ongoing digitalisation of aspects of the Community Development Programme, saying the innovation would improve transparency, accountability and coordination while equipping young participants with valuable leadership and technological skills.

Earlier, the Director-General of the movement, Associate Professor Kamaluddeen Kabir, said the group's philosophy was built on the principle of reciprocating good deeds with goodwill.

Kabir noted that through the Community Development Programme, numerous interventions had reached communities across the state, including agricultural support schemes, fertiliser distribution and water-related projects.

He said the movement would operate through structures established at the state, senatorial district, local government, ward and polling unit levels to mobilise grassroots support for the APC and Governor Radda.

Also speaking, the Deputy Director-General of the movement, Muntari Musa, said the network consisted of Community Liaison Officers and development leaders from all 361 wards in Katsina State.

Musa assured the governor of the group's commitment to promoting awareness of government policies and ensuring that residents remained informed about projects being executed in their communities.

The Katsina State APC Chairman, Dr Bashir Gambo-Saulawa, described the mobilisers as key ambassadors of the administration at the grassroots level.

He urged them to engage directly with residents and showcase the achievements of the Radda administration, enabling voters to compare campaign promises with projects delivered.

According to him, some of the administration's major achievements include the recruitment of over 10,000 teachers, construction and rehabilitation of roads, renovation of healthcare facilities, expansion of educational opportunities, the Danja Dam irrigation project and the Katsina Youth Craft Village.

Representatives of the movement from the state's three senatorial zones also pledged their support for the governor and the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on behalf of women from Daura Senatorial Zone, Hajara Ibrahim said many women across the state had embraced the administration because of the visible impact of its development programmes and community-based interventions.

She expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated grassroots structure would help expand support for Governor Radda and the APC, predicting a stronger electoral performance for the governor in the 2027 election.
