The Executive Director of Katsina State Sports Council, Audu Bello, has charged athletes representing the state at the upcoming 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta to make the state proud by winning medals.
He gave the charge during a farewell address to the state’s 123-man contingent comprising athletes and officials at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
Addressing the delegation, Bello reminded the athletes that the National Sports Festival is the biggest sporting event in Nigeria, bringing together competitors from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. He urged them to respect the culture of others, display the spirit of sportsmanship, and strictly obey their coaches.
The Executive Director also commended the Katsina State Governor and the Ministry of Sports for their moral and financial support in preparing the athletes for the event.
Katsina State will be represented by 98 male and female athletes competing in 18 different sports including hockey, volleyball, athletics, cycling, dambe, and golf.
The 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival is scheduled to hold in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from April 16 to 30, 2025, with thousands of athletes competing in 38 sporting events.
