NSCDC Unveils 100-Member Anti-Fraud Squad, Declares War on Corruption Within Ranks

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has strengthened its internal fight against corruption with the inauguration of 100 officers and personnel into its Anti-Fraud Unit, a move aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and ethical conduct across the organisation.

The newly inducted officers were formally inaugurated on Tuesday at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja by the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr Ahmed Audi.

Addressing the officers, Audi charged them to carry out their responsibilities with the highest level of integrity and professionalism, stressing that the success of the unit would depend largely on their commitment to honesty, discipline and accountability.

He disclosed that the 100 anti-fraud operatives were selected from various NSCDC formations across the country, underscoring the corps’ determination to strengthen internal oversight mechanisms and uphold public confidence in its operations.

The NSCDC boss reiterated that the organisation maintains a strict zero-tolerance stance on corruption, warning that fraudulent practices and unethical behaviour pose serious threats to institutional credibility and effectiveness.

According to him, corruption and fraud have the potential to weaken operational efficiency, diminish public trust and damage the image of government institutions if left unchecked.

“Fraud and corruption are insidious threats that can undermine our efforts, erode public trust and compromise the very fabric of our agency.

“They not only affect our operations but also tarnish the reputation of the entire civil service. Today we take a stand against these threats, reinforcing our commitment to ethical conduct and accountability,” Audi stated.

He urged the newly inaugurated officers to see themselves as ambassadors of integrity and guardians of the corps’ values, noting that their role would be critical in ensuring compliance with ethical standards within the service.

Speaking at the event, the Head of the NSCDC Anti-Fraud Unit, Commandant of Corps (CC) Emeribe Victory, reaffirmed the unit’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and integrity in all its operations.

Victory expressed appreciation to the Commandant General for creating a conducive working environment that allows the unit to function independently and effectively without undue interference.

She assured that the anti-fraud team would remain vigilant in identifying, preventing and investigating cases of corruption and other unethical practices involving both personnel and contractors linked to the corps.

The inauguration is seen as part of the NSCDC’s broader efforts to strengthen internal accountability systems and reinforce public confidence in the agency’s commitment to professionalism and good governance.
