UMYU Sign Five-Year MoU to Strengthen Research, Training and Innovation

The Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU), Katsina, has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency to strengthen collaboration in research, training, innovation and development.

The agreement was signed on Monday, September 14, 2026, as part of efforts to create new opportunities for staff and students of the university to participate in training and collaborative academic activities.

The UMYU delegation was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Salihu Muhammad, and included the Director of Academic Planning, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Babangida Abdulkarim; and Overseer of the Registry, Yazid Abdulmalik.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will explore and implement joint training programmes for staff and students, while facilitating access to relevant research facilities and technical resources available at NABRDA.

The partnership is also expected to attract high-level research and development programmes to the university, promote funding opportunities and support short-term training programmes for academic and other university personnel.

The MoU further provides a framework for joint research collaborations between researchers from UMYU and NABRDA, with the aim of strengthening institutional linkages and promoting the exchange of knowledge, expertise and technological innovations.

The university said the five-year partnership would provide a sustainable platform for advancing research and innovation while expanding opportunities for staff and students to benefit from technical expertise and research resources available through the collaboration.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the university, according to the statement issued by the Chief Information and Protocol Officer, Nabila Dahiru Anche ANIPR, MICA.
