Katsina State Governor's Wife Attends World Cancer Congress 2026, Hong Kong

The wife of Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Fatima Dikko Radda, was among the Cancer Advocates and global stakeholders, who witnessed this years World Cancer Congress 2026, which tookplace at Hong Kong, China.

The congress, convened by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), has brought together thousands of cancer researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, advocates, civil society organisations and people with lived experience from across the world.

Speaking on behalf of her pet project Pledging Aid Charity Foundation, Hajiya Fatima Dikko Radda, said the discussions at the congress have direct relevance to communities in Katsina State, particularly in the areas of cancer awareness, screening, early detection and access to timely treatment.

She noted that the fight against cancer cannot be won by one hospital, country or continent alone, stressing the importance of knowledge sharing, early detection, timely treatment, stronger health systems and effective partnerships.

According to her, the global discussions are closely connected to the realities faced by women and families in Katsina who require cancer awareness, screening and support following diagnosis.

She said there is a need to ensure that women who discover suspicious lumps or other warning signs have access to accurate information and know where to seek medical attention, while patients and survivors should also receive the necessary support.

Hajiya Fatima explained that the Pledging Aid Charity Foundation has witnessed the importance of combining awareness with access to healthcare, compassion and practical action in supporting people affected by cancer.

She described her participation in the World Cancer Congress as an opportunity to listen, learn, build partnerships and explore ideas that could be translated into meaningful interventions for people in Katsina State.

The Governor's wife further emphasised that although cancer remains a global health challenge, the impact of efforts to combat the disease must ultimately be felt at the community level.

She stressed the importance of moving from awareness to action, from conversation to collaboration, and from diagnosis to timely care.

Hajiya Fatima Dikko Radda reaffirmed the foundation's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote cancer awareness, early diagnosis, access to care and improved outcomes for individuals and families affected by the disease.

She said every life saved matters, adding that partnerships established through platforms such as the World Cancer Congress can help bring better cancer prevention and care closer to communities in Katsina State.
