Eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who reversed their decision to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) have received Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) from the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, following their renewed commitment to the party and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The vehicles were presented on Wednesday on behalf of Matawalle by Hon. Yazid Shehu Danfulani, who described the gesture as the fulfilment of the minister’s promise to empower the lawmakers and strengthen unity within the APC in Zamfara State.

The development comes days after the legislators reaffirmed their allegiance to the ruling party, raising fresh attention to the political realignments unfolding in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Danfulani said Matawalle remained committed to the welfare of the beneficiaries, adding that the lawmakers would be integrated into the Tinubu Again Movement, a political platform established to mobilise support for the President and other APC candidates.

The beneficiaries are Aliyu Ango Kagara, representing Talata Mafara South; Ibrahim Tukur Bakura of Bakura; Faruk Musa Dosara of Maradun I; Bashir Abubakar Masama of Bukkuyum North; Mukhtar Nasiru Kaura of Kaura North; Nasiru Abdullahi of Maru North; Bashar Bello of Bungudu West; and Bashar Aliyu of Gummi I.

The vehicle presentation follows Matawalle’s involvement in the lawmakers’ visit to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on October 18, during which they pledged their support for his second-term ambition.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Aliyu Ango Kagara expressed appreciation to Matawalle for his intervention and assured the minister that the lawmakers would work towards securing Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

The latest development highlights the continuing efforts by political leaders within the APC to consolidate support and strengthen party structures in Zamfara ahead of the next electoral contest. However, the vehicle presentation itself does not establish whether the lawmakers’ earlier decision to leave the party was formally withdrawn through the required legislative procedures.
