The Katsina State Police Command says its operatives have foiled a bandit attack and recovered two AK-47 rifles, 24 rounds of live ammunition, and a Boxer motorcycle during an operation in Batsari Local Government Area of the state.

The command said the operation followed a report received on Friday morning indicating that suspected armed bandits were attempting to block the Kandawa–Dankar road in Batsari LGA.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu Sadiq, the Divisional Police Officer in Batsari swiftly mobilised personnel to the scene, where the team intercepted the suspects.

The PPRO said a gunfight ensued, forcing the bandits to abandon their mission and flee due to the “superior firepower and tactics” of the police operatives.

He added that a search of the area led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, 24 rounds of ammunition, and a Boxer motorcycle left behind by the fleeing criminals. He said investigation was ongoing to track down the suspects.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bello Shehu, commended the officers for what he described as a brave and timely response, urging the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
