— Partners pledge collaboration, healthy competition for national growth

Abuja, Nigeria – May 9, 2025 – The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals (DPRP) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic collaboration in a move aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s energy security and driving national prosperity.

The renewed partnership was announced during a courtesy visit by the President/Chief Executive of the Dangote Group, Mr. Aliko Dangote, to the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, at the NNPC Towers in Abuja on Thursday.

Speaking during the meeting, Dangote emphasized cooperation over competition between the two energy giants.

“There is no competition between us. We are not here to compete with NNPC Ltd. NNPC is part and parcel of our business, and we are also part of NNPC. This is an era of cooperation between the two organizations,” he said.

Dangote also congratulated the GCEO and his Senior Management Team on their appointments, describing their mandate as monumental but surmountable, given the expertise within NNPC Ltd.

In response, Mr. Ojulari assured the Dangote delegation of a continued partnership anchored on shared goals and healthy rivalry.

“We are committed to a mutually beneficial relationship with the Dangote Group, especially where such collaboration presents commercial and national advantages,” Ojulari said.

He praised NNPC’s workforce, calling them “dedicated, highly skilled, and value-driven professionals,” and expressed confidence in their capacity to deliver on the company’s objectives.

Both leaders agreed to personally oversee the sustained relationship between their organizations, expressing optimism about the long-term benefits of their alliance for the Nigerian energy sector.
