In a significant move to tackle rising insecurity, Zamfara State Governor Dr. Dauda Lawal hosted the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, during his operational tour of the state.

The closed-door meeting, held at the Government House in Gusau on Tuesday, focused on strengthening collaboration between the state and the NSCDC to enhance security operations. Governor Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in restoring peace across Zamfara.

"The safety of our people is non-negotiable," Lawal stated. "This partnership with the NSCDC will reinforce our security framework and ensure a more coordinated response to threats."

The Commandant General praised the governor’s proactive stance, noting that the visit marked the beginning of deeper cooperation. "With shared intelligence and joint operations, we can dismantle criminal networks terrorizing communities," Audi said.

Security analysts have long called for improved inter-agency synergy in Zamfara, a state plagued by banditry and kidnappings. This high-level engagement signals a renewed push for stability as both leaders pledged immediate action.

Residents await tangible outcomes, hopeful that this alliance will bring much-needed relief to the embattled region.
