The Katsina State Police Command says it arrested 188 suspects and secured the conviction of several others during its crime-fighting operations in March 2026.

The Command also said it rescued 12 kidnapped victims, recovered firearms and ammunition, and disrupted criminal networks across parts of the state.

The disclosure was made on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Katsina.

According to the Command, the arrests were made in connection with 120 reported cases, out of which 98 have been charged to court for prosecution.

The suspects include 14 armed robbery suspects, two gunrunners, one cattle rustler, five informants to bandits, 14 suspects for culpable homicide, 20 rape suspects, and 22 drug peddlers.

It said investigations are ongoing into several cases, including that of a suspected member of a criminal gang linked to the killing of one “Abu Amshi,” arrested following credible intelligence.

The Command also said it disrupted criminal supply and intelligence networks in Jibia and Safana Local Government Areas, arresting suspected informants and gunrunners.

On rescue operations, the police confirmed the safe recovery of 12 kidnapped victims, who were medically examined and reunited with their families.

Firearms recovered during the period include AK-47 rifles, PKT machine guns, locally fabricated weapons, ammunition belts, and 974 rounds of live ammunition. The Command also recovered 30 rustled animals and five motorcycles used for criminal activities.

The Command said the successes were achieved through intelligence-led policing, sustained patrols, targeted raids on criminal hideouts, and collaboration with sister security agencies and local communities.

It added that joint operations and improved intelligence sharing significantly enhanced response time and operational effectiveness.

Reaffirming its commitment, the Command assured residents of continued efforts to sustain peace and security across the state, while urging the public to provide timely information to security agencies.

Residents were advised to report suspicious activities through emergency hotlines provided by the Command.
