The outgoing Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has formally handed over the affairs of the ministry, expressing confidence in the future of Nigeria’s housing sector.
Dangiwa handed over to the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, during a ceremony held on Thursday in Abuja.
He said the progress recorded during his tenure had laid a solid foundation that would continue to yield positive results, urging stakeholders to sustain collaboration in advancing the sector.
The former minister also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, and appreciated Katsina State Governor, Dr Dikko Radda, for his support and encouragement.
He commended the Minister of State, the Permanent Secretary, management staff, aides and the entire workforce of the ministry for their professionalism and dedication.
Dangiwa further acknowledged the contributions of stakeholders, including professionals, developers and institutions, noting that their cooperation was critical in driving reforms and delivering on the ministry’s mandate.
He called on staff and stakeholders to extend the same level of support and cooperation to the incoming minister, describing the task ahead as demanding but achievable with unity and commitment.
“As I step aside, I remain optimistic about the future of Nigeria’s housing and urban development sector,” he said.
In his remarks, the Minister of State, Yusuf Ata, commended Dangiwa for what he described as transformative leadership and impactful reforms in the housing sector.
He said the outgoing minister’s tenure was marked by professionalism, innovation and strong leadership, adding that his contributions had repositioned the ministry.
Ata also appreciated Dangiwa’s mentorship, noting that he gained valuable experience working under him, and assured that the ministry would continue to seek his counsel.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore, praised Dangiwa’s leadership qualities, saying his reforms had significantly strengthened the housing sector.
He assured that the ministry would sustain ongoing reforms and continue to implement government programmes in line with its mandate.
