Residents of Ingawa Local Government Area in Katsina State on Saturday benefited from a free medical outreach organised by Hajiya Aisha Muhmud Kanti Bello in memory of her late father, Senator Mahmoud Kanti Bello.
The outreach, which provided free drugs, medical tests and consultations, was aimed at assisting vulnerable residents who lack access to basic healthcare services.
Speaking to journalists at the venue, Aisha said the initiative was inspired by her father’s lifelong commitment to humanitarian service and community development.
She said the decision to organise the programme followed concerns over the increasing number of people unable to afford medical care in the area.
“This is part of my effort to support the less privileged while honouring my late father. We want to help reduce the hardship faced by people who cannot access healthcare,” she said.
According to her, between 1,000 and 1,200 residents were targeted for the outreach, adding that the large turnout recorded reflected the urgent need for such interventions.
She disclosed that plans were underway to sustain and possibly expand the initiative, noting that patients with serious conditions would be referred to higher health facilities for further treatment, with support provided where possible.
Also speaking, Engineer Mustapha Muhammad Kanti Bello said the outreach was organised as a charitable gesture to seek spiritual reward for their late father.
He described the late senator as an influential political figure whose contributions impacted lives beyond Katsina State.
Mustapha, a former commissioner during the administration of Malam Aminu Bello Masari, currently serves as an adviser on community development to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda. He is also being tipped to contest the House of Representatives seat for Kankiya, Kusada and Ingawa Federal Constituency.
