Students of Katsina State origin from various tertiary institutions across Nigeria have honoured Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke and purchased the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship nomination form for him ahead of the 2027 elections.

The event, organised by the LADO Scholars Forum in collaboration with the LADO Development Foundation, held on Sunday, May 4, 2026, at the Katsina Continental Events and Sports Centre in Katsina. It drew students, political actors, journalists and other stakeholders.

The highlight of the gathering was the formal presentation of the PDP nomination form to Danmarke by the students as part of activities marking the honour in his recognition.

In his remarks, Danmarke expressed profound gratitude for the gesture, describing it as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership and vision.

“This struggle is not mine alone or that of my family; it is about the collective progress of Katsina State,” he said, assuring supporters that their trust would not be misplaced.

He added that his earlier delay in declaring his ambition was strategic, stressing that he is now fully prepared for the 2027 governorship race. He identified security, education, infrastructure and human capital development as key priorities.

Katsina State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Nuruddeen Amadi Kurfi, commended the students for what he termed a bold and commendable initiative, noting that it reflects widespread support for Danmarke. He also urged residents to rally behind the PDP, while criticising the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over its handling of critical sectors.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Barrister Amira Yakubu Lado Danmarke described the occasion as both humbling and inspiring, saying it demonstrated unity and genuine commitment from the youth.

“What we have witnessed today goes beyond a ceremony; it is a reflection of sincere support and shared vision,” she said.

She reiterated that the foundation is anchored on the belief that education is central to societal transformation, outlining plans to expand scholarship opportunities, including international study programmes and interventions to ease transportation challenges facing students.

Also speaking, Dr. Muji Shorler highlighted the foundation’s impact, noting that it had facilitated the payment of registration fees for 1,000 students at the Federal College of Education, Katsina, helping them to continue their education.

The event, chaired by Hon. Ghali Abubakar Bakori, was widely described by participants as a significant demonstration of youth engagement and growing political awareness in Katsina State.
