Katsina, May 6, 2026

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State has dismissed as false a widely circulated claim that it has endorsed Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa as its candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Lawal Daura Movement for Progressive Change, Sani Ibrahim Dabai, described the report as misleading and inconsistent with the party’s position, stressing that no such decision had been taken by the ADC.

According to him, the party has not, at any level of its constitutionally recognised structures, endorsed any aspirant for the forthcoming gubernatorial race. He added that the publication was a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and undermine the party’s internal democratic process.

“The ADC remains committed to transparency, due process, and internal democracy. Its candidate will emerge through a credible and lawful primary election,” the statement said.

Dabai further noted that the alleged endorsement surfaced at a time when Malam Lawal Musa Daura was gaining increasing support among party stakeholders and the electorate across the state.

He reassured supporters of Daura and the general public that there was no cause for concern, adding that the aspirant had been engaging experts in various sectors to develop a comprehensive policy framework aimed at addressing key challenges such as insecurity, unemployment, and poverty in Katsina State.

The statement also cautioned those behind the report, describing the move as propaganda that runs contrary to the values and principles of the ADC.

It urged party members, delegates, and the public to disregard the claim and remain committed to upholding democratic processes.

“The future of Katsina State will be determined by the will of the people, not by misinformation or fabricated endorsements,” the statement added.
