The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to creating an enabling environment for investments in the housing sector as part of efforts to boost infrastructure development and expand access to affordable homes across the country.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaka Rabe Darma, stated this ahead of the forthcoming Renewed Hope Housing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Summit scheduled for May 12, 2026, at the Yar'Adua Centre.

Darma spoke during a meeting with the Chairman of Shelter Advisory Services, Olayemi Rotimi Shodinmu, who briefed him on preparations for the summit.

The minister said the ministry was pleased to partner with Shelter Advisory Services in organising the second edition of the Renewed Hope Housing PPP Summit.

“Our ministry is proud to collaborate with Shelter Advisory Services in hosting the second edition of the Renewed Hope Housing PPP Summit,” he said.

According to him, housing goes beyond providing shelter, noting that it remains a major driver of economic growth, job creation and national development.

He explained that under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the government is prioritising stronger public-private partnerships to unlock investment opportunities, expand housing delivery and improve access to affordable housing for Nigerians.

Earlier, Dr. Shodinmu said the summit was designed to move beyond policy discussions towards practical implementation capable of attracting sustainable investment into the housing sector.

He said the gathering would focus on translating housing policies into viable investment opportunities capable of delivering measurable impact in Nigerian cities and communities.

According to him, public-private partnership remains one of the most effective strategies for mobilising long-term financing, combining government land and infrastructure with the expertise and resources of private sector operators to address Nigeria’s housing deficit.

He added that the summit would also feature a specialised training session aimed at strengthening capacity within the housing and urban development sector.
