Armed bandits attacked Kogari community in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State late on Tuesday, abducting the village head, Bello Abdulkarim, his daughter and several other residents, local sources said.

The attackers also kidnapped the wife of the village head’s representative and her daughter, in addition to two other women taken from the community during the raid.

Residents said the attack caused panic and heightened fear among people in the area, which has witnessed recurring incidents of banditry and mass abductions in recent years.

There was no immediate statement from security authorities on the incident as of Wednesday.

Community members appealed for prayers and expressed hope for the safe return of those abducted.
