The Governor of Katsina State held an unprecedented consultative meeting with prominent Islamic scholars from across the state in what is regarded as a historic gathering.

The meeting took place on Tuesday, 1 Muharram 1448 AH, corresponding to June 16, 2026.at katsina state government house conference hall.

It brought together leading Islamic clerics representing virtually all major Islamic groups and movements in Katsina State. Participants included scholars from the Tijjaniyya and Qadiriyya Sufi orders, the national Izala movement and its Kaduna and Jos factions, representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood (Yan'uwa Musulmi), the Qur'aniyyun movement, and youth representatives of the Ja'afariyya school of thought.

In his address, the governor gave a comprehensive briefing on the measures his administration has taken to address the state's security challenges. He also outlined the constitutional limits of what a state government can do in tackling insecurity and disclosed details of his discussions with the President regarding the security situation in Katsina State.

After his presentation, the governor told the gathering:

"You have heard my briefing. Now I want to hear your advice. What do you think we should do? Whatever is within our authority, we will implement. Whatever is beyond our powers, we will forward to the appropriate authorities."

The governor also appealed to the scholars to continue educating the public about the realities of the security situation and urged them to place the interests of Katsina State and Nigeria above all other considerations.

During the meeting, eleven scholars from different Islamic groups presented important recommendations and expressed their views with sincerity, fairness, and a sense of responsibility.

The governor carefully took notes of each presentation and later read back the key points before the participants to ensure they had been accurately recorded. He assured the gathering that his administration would thoroughly review every recommendation, implement those within the jurisdiction of the state government, and forward those requiring federal intervention or action by other relevant authorities to the appropriate bodies.
