Iran has issued a fresh warning to the United States and Israel against any further military action as the country prepares for a week-long series of funeral ceremonies for its slain Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The warning comes amid heightened tensions, tight security measures and nationwide mourning following Khamenei’s death in airstrikes during the recent conflict, an event that has sent shockwaves across the Middle East.

Speaking through a statement carried by state media, Commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Ali Abdollahi, cautioned both Washington and Tel Aviv against what he described as any “miscalculation” that could trigger a severe military response.

“We warn the enemies of Iran to avoid any miscalculation and think about the consequences of any aggression,” Abdollahi said.

The funeral rites for Khamenei are set to begin on July 4 in Tehran, with ceremonies expected to continue across several cities before culminating in his burial in Mashhad on July 9. Additional memorial events are also scheduled to take place in the holy city of Qom as well as in Iraq.

Iranian authorities have moved swiftly to tighten security ahead of the ceremonies. Temporary airspace restrictions will be enforced over Tehran, Mashhad and other major cities, while security agencies have been placed on high alert to prevent any potential threats during the mourning period.

The latest warning echoes earlier remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who reacted strongly to comments made by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, signalling that Tehran remains wary of further escalation.

Government agencies have begun extensive preparations to manage the expected influx of mourners. Transport services, accommodation facilities and logistical support are being mobilised to ensure millions of citizens can participate in the events.

Iranian officials have described the funeral as more than a farewell to a national leader, portraying it as a powerful display of unity, resilience and continued support for the Islamic Republic.

Several foreign delegations, including representatives from Russia and China, are expected in Tehran to pay their respects, underscoring the international significance of the ceremonies.

As the funeral period approaches, tensions remain high across the region, with Iran's leadership making it clear that any new attack by its adversaries could provoke a swift and forceful response.
