In a groundbreaking move, the Katsina State Executive Council has given the nod to a ₦74.5 billion budget earmarked for nine pivotal road projects, signaling a major push for urban infrastructure enhancement and heightened business activities within the state capital.

In a post-session briefing, Engineer Sani Magaji Ingawa, the Commissioner of Works, Housing, and Transport, revealed the development following the State Executive Council's inaugural meeting of the year, presided over by Governor Mallam Dikko Umar Radda.

Under Governor Dikko Radda's Urban Renewal Program, these projects, contracted to CCECC, are set to transform the landscape in a two-year timeline. Notable roads on the development roster include:

1. Eastern Bypass: Dutsinma Road, Kano Road, Daura Road to Yandaki Village, Kaita LG.
2. Dualisation: Katsina Central Mosque through Kofar Marusa to WTC Roundabout, Yandaki-Shinkafi to Kofar Sauri, and Airport Junction to proposed bypass along Daura Road.
3. Dualisation Extension: Barhim Estate to proposed bypass along Mani Road, Water Board Roundabout through Kofar Sauri to Katsina Central Mosque.
4. Construction Projects: Rafin Dadi to Batsari Roundabout, Central Police Station to Kofar Yandaka, and Central Police Station to Kofar Kaura underpass.

Commissioner Magaji emphasized prioritizing two roads in the first phase, along with the previously approved Kofar Soro to Kofar Guga road, totaling ₦38 billion. The initial phase includes the eastern bypass from Umaru Musa Yaradua University (UMYU) to Yandaki and Central Mosque-Kiddies to WTC Roundabout.

Project kick-off is slated for February, and to ensure financial transparency, Commissioner Bashir Tanimu Gambo assured prompt mobilization of the construction firm. An agreement will be inked to prevent scope variations.

Dr. Faisal Umar Kaita, Commissioner of Lands and Survey, revealed plans for cluster arrangements at the Fatima Baika Central Market to boost efficiency, emphasizing the government's commitment to preserving historical landmarks during project execution.
