Katsina State Governor and Chairman of the Northwest Governors' Forum, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Saturday attended the Northern States Governors’ Forum meeting held in Kaduna, where key resolutions were adopted to address security, economic, and developmental challenges facing the region.

The high-level meeting, chaired by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, drew participation from several northern governors, including those from Zamfara, Kebbi, and Niger States, among others. Discussions focused on regional collaboration to curb growing insecurity, boost economic cooperation, and improve infrastructure across the region.

Governor Radda commended the deliberations of the Forum, describing the outcome as “crucial to repositioning the northern region.” He emphasized the importance of unity and collective action among leaders in overcoming shared obstacles.

Also present were prominent traditional rulers, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, and Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar. Their presence underscored the cultural and historical significance of the meeting, reinforcing the partnership between traditional institutions and political leadership in resolving the region’s pressing issues.

The Forum resolved to establish a standing committee to follow up on implementation strategies and foster coordination among northern states, particularly in security surveillance, education reforms, and rural development initiatives.

The Kaduna gathering reflects a renewed commitment by northern leaders to foster peace and progress through joint dialogue, inclusive leadership, and practical actions aimed at regional integration and sustainable development.
