The Nigeria Police Force in Katsina State has foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued an 18-year-old girl abducted by suspected bandits in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred at about 11:53pm on Wednesday when armed men reportedly invaded Kukoki Quarters in Danmusa town and abducted the victim, identified as Aisha Kabir.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Danmusa swiftly mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) tactical patrol team after receiving a distress call.

The statement said the operatives engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and successfully overpowered them, forcing the suspects to abandon the victim and flee with suspected gunshot injuries.

According to the police, the rescued victim was immediately taken to a hospital for medical evaluation before being reunited with her family.

The command added that bush combing operations were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, commended the officers involved in the operation for their swift response and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support security operations.
