The *Nutrition Society of Nigeria, Katsina State Chapter* held a close-door advocacy meeting on *2nd June 2025* with *His Excellency, " Governor of Katsina State", popularly known as Young Dikko*, along with his protocol and team members.
The meeting began with an *opening prayer*, followed by a *brief introduction* of attendees. The session was anchored by the Chapter Chairman, *Comrade Suleiman Ibrahim Yantaba*.
The objective of the meeting was to advocate for strategic plan and implementation of projects aimed at addressing key nutrition and public health challenges in Katsina State. Key areas discussed included:
- Combating *malnutrition* across the state
- Improving *water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)* among *Almajiri children*
- Promoting the use of *locally available ingredients* in formulating complementary foods for *under-five children*
- Strengthening *maternal, infant, and young child nutrition*, especially in preparation for *World Breastfeeding Week*
During the session, *"His Excellency"* expressed strong support for the Society’s mission. He *acknowledged the impactful activities* of the organization, offered *valuable words of advice*, and *pledged his full support* in advancing nutrition-related initiatives across the state, and assistance where necessary.
*In conclusion*, the Chapter Chairman, *Comrade Suleiman Ibrahim Yantaba*, gave his *closing remarks*, sincerely thanking *"His Excellency" for honoring the invitation. He also *commended the "governor" his team* for their kindness, attention, and commitment to support nutrition effort in Katsina State.
The meeting ended with a *closing prayer*, followed by a *group photograph*.
