Radda Congratulates New NUJ Katsina Leadership, Commends Outgoing Executives

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated the newly inaugurated executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Katsina State Council, following their swearing-in ceremony held on Friday in Katsina.

Governor Radda also commended the outgoing leadership of the council led by Tukur DanAli, the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Information and Culture, for their service and contributions to the journalism profession.

Aminu Garba Dandagoro of Katsina State Television was sworn in as Chairman of the council, while Auwal Halliru of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Katsina assumed office as Vice Chairman.

Other members of the new executive include Abbas Bamalli, correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who emerged as Secretary; Yunusa Umar of Companion FM as Assistant Secretary; and Shehu Abubakar of Katsina State Radio as Treasurer.

Hamidu Sabo of Blueprint Newspaper was sworn in as Financial Secretary, while Yasir Abubakar of Katsina State Television took over as Internal Auditor.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by journalists and media practitioners from across the state, marking a transition in the leadership of the union.

In his message, Governor Radda noted that the composition of the new executive reflects broad representation across various media platforms, including broadcast, print, and news agencies.

“The new executive brings together experienced journalists from diverse media organisations. This diversity strengthens the union and promotes inclusive leadership,” the governor said.

He praised the outgoing executive for their commitment to professional journalism and union development, noting that their tenure recorded notable achievements.

Governor Radda urged the new leadership to build on the existing foundation and sustain efforts towards strengthening journalism practice in the state.

He reiterated the importance of journalism in promoting good governance, describing journalists as a vital link between the government and the public.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting journalists and enhancing their professional capacity.
