The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has raised alarm over what it described as a coordinated sabotage campaign aimed at discrediting its leadership and disrupting its ongoing institutional reforms.
In a statement issued on Friday, the company alleged that a network of known and faceless individuals—both within and outside the organisation—had launched a deliberate smear campaign. According to NNPC Ltd., the actors are behind a series of false and scandalous reports intended to mislead the public and demoralise its workforce.
“These attacks are being orchestrated by those who feel threatened by our reform efforts and commitment to transparency and accountability,” the company said.
The statement added that the goal of the campaign is to derail NNPC Ltd.’s transformation into a performance-driven, corruption-free energy company in line with the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
NNPC Ltd. further warned that more defamatory content could surface in the coming weeks but stressed that the company remains focused and will not be deterred.
"We urge our dedicated staff, stakeholders, and all patriotic Nigerians to stay focused, ignore the noise and remain committed to the ongoing reforms. The transformation is underway, and no amount of sabotage will stop it," the statement concluded.
